TENTATIVE BIO

A young multidisciplinary artist, Charlie Perillat is a self-taught woman. Her sensitivity pushes her at an early age to collaborate with various artists. She started in the development of documentary films in Antarctica and Latin America, alongside with music video commissions and commercials as an actress, model. Then, she directed several short films between experimental fiction and documentary, shown in festivals. She has also set up a collective of artists, Woops, where she regularly exhibits her creations, from painting to photography and organizes various happenings animated among typical Parisian figures. When producer Marc Collin crosses her path, keen on cinema just like her, it immediately clicked. Seized by Charlie’s life course and particular sensitivity, he sets him a new challenge: to put her texts to music. And Rodeo Girl gets in the saddle and takes the reins. TENTATIVE was born. This name is chosen in homage to Marina Tsvetaeva, one of the most singular Russian poetesses of the 20th century.
Singer and author, the album is expected! Since 5 titles of the first EP have been released: “06h37” in November 2020, followed by the remixes “73h60” in February 2021; followed by two singles: “Je m’ennuie” (i.e., I’m bored) in June 2021 and “Rodéo Girl” in March 2022 -already emblematic, the two last titles will appear on the album. Spatio-temporal shift against a backdrop of health crisis, but above all noticeable appearances with the first surreal clips.
The tone is set. TENTATIVE has sharpened its style which reveals the universe of an audacious Charlie, a singer with a charisma that turns heads and an author with a sharp pen. Charlie’s music project TENTATIVE is an explosive mixture between the world of cold wave, post punk-electro, contemporary poetry, and glam attitude.
Charlie is a storyteller of true stories, very personal, irreverent texts, often written spontaneously during studio sessions and in constant dialogue with the music. She practices self-mockery with delight and her personality does not escape the radar of the artist ORLAN, who invited her in her sound piece “Le slow de l’artiste” (i.e., Artist’s slow). True intergenerational collaboration, TENTATIVE seizes the title «Les corps de métiers m’excitent,» (i.e., corporate associations turn me on) and signs a comical and cheeky duo with the queen of body art.
It is therefore difficult to label the facetious Charlie who put out all the stops and transports us as if by magic from a café terrace to a bewitching landscape populated by animals, birdsongs and still life. It goes fast, it connects and it makes you want to dance. TENTATIVE reminds us that if images record reality, words define it. And when the real weighs you down, you are free to invent it.: MUSIC
